- Make sure to unplug the cable connected to the rear-panel HA REMOTE connector during the update operations. Especially on the PM5D-RH, this may cause the internal head amps to be uncontrollable. If this happens, follow the procedures described in the upgrade guide.
- Use the Editor with the supported firmware listed in the following table.
PM5DV2 Editor/Firmware Compatibility (Win)
PM5DV2 Editor/Firmware Compatibility (Mac / Intel)
PM5DV2 Editor/Firmware Compatibility (Mac/ Power PC)
- PM5DV2 user data is compatible with later firmware versions, but not with lower firmware versions. Cross-platform compatibility is provided for setup data which is directly saved to a compact flash memory via the PM5DV2, or saved as a ".PM5" file using the Editor application.
Note for Cascade Connection Mode
- Be sure that the same firmware version is installed on all PM5DV2 units when you use more than two PM5DV2 units in cascade connection mode.
- Be sure to install the latest versions when you use the PM5DV2 and DSP5D in cascade connection mode.
- To cascade-connect the PM5D and DSP5D, follow the steps below to turn the power on and enable cascade connection.
- Turn off all the devices, then connect them with a cable according to the system you intend to set up
- Turn on the power to the DSP5D/DCU5D first, then the PM5D, or turn on the power to the devices simultaneously
- If necessary, set the DSP5D machine ID with the Mode switch on the DSP5D rear panel or from DSP5D Editor
- Select a connection type on the PM5D MIXER SETUP screen, then confirm the routes between the machines (heavy arrow) are in blue or yellow (connected correctly), and that they are not shown in red (connected incorrectly)
- Click the CASCADE ENABLED/DISABLED button on the MIXER SETUP screen to set it to ENABLED. It will take ten minutes at longest to enable cascade connection after the DISABLED button is clicked. A "Wrong Word Clock!" or "Sync Error!" message may appear until the word clock is set as specified in the steps below
- Set the word clock for each PM5D/DSP5D. Generally, set the PM5D to be the word clock master and the DSP5D to be the word clock slave (If the PM5D and the DSP5D are cascade-connected via the DCU5D, the DSP5D cannot be set as the word clock master).
Please refer to "DSP5D, PM5D V2 Quick Setup Guide" (PDF) for more details
- To cascade-connect the PM5D and the DSP5D, the following two combinations of the firmware version are supported. If an unsupported combination of the PM5D and DSP5D are cascade-connected (as shown below), a "DSP5D#1(2) Unsupported Firmware Version" or "PM5D Unsupported Firmware Version" message may appear or the cascade connection may not be recognized.

- To cascade-connect the PM5D and the DSP5D, confirm that they are connected correctly on the PM5D MIXER SETUP screen, then set the CASCADE ENABLED/DISABLED button to ENABLED. If the PM5D and the DSP5D are not cascade-connected correctly and you set the CASCADE ENABLED/DISABLED button to ENABLED, the memory in the PM5D will not correspond to the DSP5D status
- If the CASCADE ENABLED/DISABLED button is set to ENABLED, all the channels' CUE settings are set to off
- In a system where the PM5D and DSP5D are cascade-connected, the functions shown in the CASCADE LINK on the CASCADE screen always link (in the same way as the LINK buttons are on). The LINK buttons in CASCADE LINK can be set when only the PM5D units are cascade-connected
- The setting files created from the PM5D V1.x or PM5D Editor (extension: .PM5) can be loaded to PM5DV2 Editor and the PM5D V2.x. The setting files created from the PM5D V2.x or PM5DV2 Editor (extension: .PM5) cannot be loaded to PM5D Editor and the PM5D V1.x
- When operating the devices during cascade-connection, do not set the AuviTran AVRed-ES using AVS-ESMonitor. If the PM5D and DSP5D are cascade-connected via the CASCADE IN/OUT (RJ-45) connector and a computer in which AVS-ESMonitor is installed is connected to another CASCADE IN/OUT (RJ-45) connector, audio and control signals cannot communicate between the cascade-connected devices even if AVS-ESMonitor is not running. Once the AVRed-ES is set using AVS-ESMonitor, disconnect the computer from the CASCADE IN/OUT (RJ-45) connector, then enable cascade-connection
- In a system where the PM5D is cascade-connected including the DSP5D, the PREVIEW mode cannot be turned on/off until a scene is recalled and all the cascade-connected device settings are applied to the PM5D. When the PREVIEW mode cannot be turned on/off, a "Cannot Preview On/Off at this moment" message appears

Fixed bugs
- Fixed a problem in which the signal processing and screen statuses were not identical when patching the same port simultaneously to each Insert Out in the Input/Output Patch library by for example, recalling a library which inserts the same GEQ module.
- Fixed a problem in which the Fader Calibration screen did not appear when a problem was detected in the fader settings while the PM5D was started up.
- Fixed a problem in which the previously entered numbers were cleared by pressing the next key when you entered the same number as the currently recalled scene number from the external keyboard connected to the PM5D unit. For example, if you attempted to recall scene 123 with scene 012 recalled, the entered numbers "1" and "2" would be cleared and scene 003 would be recalled instead. When you enter a wrong scene number from the external keyboard, the number can be cleared and reentered by pressing the <.> key.
Fixed Bugs (Cascade mode)
- Fixed a problem in which the DCA group with the DCA LEVEL/MUTE in the CASCADE LINK settings turned on was not excluded from the scene recall operations from the cascade master (even if the DCA group was excluded from the recall operations with the Recall Safe or Selective Recall function) when multiple PM5D units were cascade-connected.
- Fixed a problem in which the meters of the channels other than the currently selected channel and the adjacent channels did not move when the PM5D and the DSP5D units were cascade-connected and the DSP5D was selected for the PM5D panel operation under the following conditions.
- The same metering point was specified for the channel strip meters and for the meters at the top of the top panel.
- The meter of a different layer was displayed on the channel strip meters and the meters at the top of the top panel.
- A specific screen such as EQ or COMP was displayed.
- Fixed a problem in which the GR indicator of the channel that uses no COMP/GATE function flashed instantaneously by switching the channel layers with a screen other than COMP or GATE screen displayed, when the PM5D and the DSP5D units were cascade-connected and the DSP5D was selected for the PM5D panel operation.
- Fixed a problem in which the GR meter continued to display the maximum value on the panel or screen of the selected channel and its paired channel when the PM5D and the DSP5D units were cascade-connected and the DSP5D was selected for the PM5D panel operation under the following conditions. To fix this problem, update the DSP5D firmware as well as the PM5D firmware.
- VERTICAL PAIR was selected for the PAIR MODE.
- GATE and/or COMP of the selected and its paired channels were set to ON.
- A different layer was selected for the INPUT channel strip meters and for the meters at the top of the top panel.
