About CLF

  • The Common Loudspeaker File Format (CLF) provides all of the important specifications for loudspeakers.
  • There are two type of files. A CLF Type 1 file contains one octave/10 degree data, a CLF Type 2 file contains one third octave/5 degree data.
  • The CLF data files can be opened in the freeware CLF Viewer program, which serves as a universal specification sheet.
  • The viewer allows directivity data to be shown as 3D balloons, as horizontal and vertical polars or as balloon spectra. Other frequency dependent data, such as impedance, Q etc. can be plotted graphically. This allows sound system designers to always have important data available on their PC at no cost.
  • The CLF data files can also be used by several room modeling programs for sound system and acoustics design. These currently include CATT-Acoustic, Odeon, and LARA.
