Yamaha TF1 Is On The Record, Live At Zédel

Jul, 2017

Yamaha’s TF series mixing consoles combine state-of-the-art digital mixing technology with exceptional ease of use and a very compact footprint, all at a remarkably competitive price point. A new installation in London is also demonstrating that they are the ideal solution for live recording.

Bringing a diverse array of live music, theatre, comedy, spoken word and other contemporary entertainment to London’s West End, Live At Zédel is an intimate, 80-seat venue where diners and drinkers can also enjoy fine fare in the opulent, art deco surroundings of the Brasserie Zédel and Bar Américain.

Managed by Fane Productions, a key part of the package is the recording and swift online release of Live At Zédel performances. Recently Autograph Sales & Installations was approached to specify and install a compact, high quality live sound and recording system - at the heart of which is a Yamaha TF1 console.

The TF1 is fitted with a NY64-D Dante expansion card and is complemented by a pair of Tio1608-D I/O units on a Dante network. As well as managing a high quality live mix, the system provides up to 34 audio channels which are recorded individually on a JoeCo Blackbox BBR64-Dante multitrack recorder. The TF series also provides the option of recording a stereo mix to a compatible USB hard drive or SSD.

Putting the infamous era of dubious quality, bootlegged ‘board tapes’ firmly into the past, the TF1 solution delivers exceptional multitrack recordings from a very competitively-priced system, at the same time providing the live mix for the venue’s audience. The system gives Fane Productions the flexibility to either take the multitrack recordings to the studio for later release, or to immediately mix them for release quickly after the show.

The first release will be available from the Fane Productions web site in September, featuring the Jay Rayner Quartet, led by the eponymous restaurant critic, chef, writer, broadcaster and jazz pianist.
