Important Notice

Please do not use the EEE function (*) of network switches in a Dante network.

Although power management should be negotiated automatically in switches that support EEE, some switches do not perform the negotiation properly. This may cause EEE to be enabled in Dante networks when it is not appropriate, resulting in poor synchronization performance and occasional dropouts.

Therefore we strongly recommend that:
  • 1. If you use managed switches, ensure that they allow EEE to be disabled. Make sure that EEE is disabled on all ports used for real-time Dante traffic.
  • 2. If you use unmanaged switches, make sure to not use network switches that support the EEE function, since EEE operation cannot be disabled in these switches.
  • * EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) is a technology that reduces switch power consumption during periods of low network traffic. It is also known as Green Ethernet and IEEE802.3az.

Cautions for Dante Firmware

  • The Dante Firmware Update Manager v1.4.13.2 for Mac does not support Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    Please use Mac OS X 10.7.5, 10.8.5, 10.9.5 or 10.10.
  • The Dante Firmware Update Manager v1.4.13.2 for Windows does not support Windows XP.
    Please use Windows 7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10.
  • When updating the firmware, follow the instructions described in the “Rio3224-D/Rio1608-D Firmware Update Guide”. You need to update the Dante firmware if you update the firmware from a version before V3.00. This is not necessary from V3.00.

CL/QL/R/Tio Series Editor/Firmware Compatibility

Please make sure to use appropriate version of CL Editor or QL Editor which is compatible with your console firmware in reference to the following compatibility chart. Using an unsupported Editor/firmware combination may result in unexpected behavior.
The Firmware Set is a set of main (and sub) firmware of the device and the Dante firmware. The version of Firmware Set is the same as the version of the main firmware. Refer to the release note of each firmware about the details of the Firmware Set.

Main Revisions and Enhancements

  • You can remotely control one Rio/Ri/Ro unit from a maximum of two computers operating R Remote. You can also remotely control from four separate CL/QL units.

New Feature

  • Supports the HA remote from TF series via NY64-D. The TF firmware must be updated to V2.00 or later.

Improvement

  • When a channel’s +48V is on but +48V MASTER is off, the indicator now blinks for the notification.

Fixed bug

  • Solved a problem in which R Remote occasionally could not remote the R series units when a DHCP server is running.
    However, if the DHCP server starts one minute or more later, the remote might fail. In that case, restart the R series units.

Known issue

  • If Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) is patched to the CL/QL series device using Dante Controller, the patching may not be recalled correctly when the CL/QL series device is restarted. Patch DVS again. In addition, when using a version of DVS for Windows that is older than v3.2.0, the patch after CH41 cannot be performed from CL/QL series consoles.
  • In the owner's manual it is written that the Dante Patch is cleared in REFRESH mode, however the Dante Patch is not cleared in REFRESH mode.
  • A message "Dante Version Mismatch" may appear for a seconds on the TF series touchscreen when making patches to TF series via NY64-D by Dante Controller. However, the audio and HA control communications work properly.

  • When setting up latency on the Dante Controller, and there is a discrepancy in latency with the transmit device or the receive device, the largest (slowest) latency setting becomes effective.
  • If the DIP switch REMOTE setting is switched between NATIVE and AD8HR, the device label is set to the default value, and the patch is also cleared.
  • On the CL/QL, the following device labels are used for detecting a SUPPORTED DEVICE.

Improvement

  • When R series starts in REFRESH mode and only R Remote is connected, the orange [SYNC] indicator is turned off and the green [SYNC] indicator is turned on.

Fixed bugs

  • Solved a problem in which the DANTE module rarely malfunctioned and Head Amp control is lost, causing all of the LED indicators on the front panel to blink.
  • Solved a problem in which the message "No Response from I/O DEVICE." or "No Response from External HA." appeared under the following conditions:
    -16 or more R units and Dante-MY16-AUD were in the same Dante network.
    -3 or more R units were each mounted on 4 consoles.

Rio Firmware V2.00

New Features

  • CL-series firmware V2.03 is supported.
  • QL-series firmware V1.07 is supported.
  • The IP SELECT MODE function is assigned to DIP switches 2 and 3 as an IP address setup for remote control. There are three settings: AUTO IP (conventional setup), DHCP, and STATIC IP (192.168.0. "UNIT ID"). When using R REMOTE, set this to AUTO IP.
  • Now supports a latency value of 2.0msec for Dante.

Fixed bugs

  • Solved a problem in which a SECONDARY PORT setting was changed using DIP switch 4, but the setting might not have been changed.
  • Solved a problem in which updating the main firmware of the R series might go wrong. When you update, make sure that the updateV2.exe file is the most recent available.

To update the MAIN firmware, perform operations of only the section “Updating the Rio firmware” in the “Rio3224-D/Rio1608-D Firmware Update Guide.” If you update the device from other than the V1.70 firmware, update the Rio device by following the guide thoroughly.

Fixed bugs

  • Solved a problem in which, depending on the duration of a momentary power outage, the analog gain value could change, or the HA could no longer be controlled remotely.

Rio Firmware V1.60

[Important Notice]
With V1.60 firmware, we found that CL consoles may partially lose HA gain control of R series units after being powered on for a long period of time. We have released the new firmware V1.61 in which the serious problem was fixed, and strongly recommend to update your CL/R series units with V1.61.

Rio1608-D/3224-D Firmware V1.50

Improvement
  • Improved with specific network switching in which, when the Rio is turned on, the Rio links at 100Mbps.
Fixed bug
  • Solved a problem in which, when the Rio1608-D with AD8HR mode engaged was mounted on the EXTERNAL HA page of the CL series screen, the +48V Master icons would be shown for four virtual units, instead of the correct two.

Solved the following problems:
  • CL could not recognize a Dante device if its device label had less than six characters.
  • After editing a number of channel labels for one device in Dante Controller, the network module of the Dante device might need to be repaired by Yamaha service.
  • When the CL was turned on, or when the Wordclock setting was changed, on a rare occasion audio might not output.

  • Solved a problem in which if Dante-MY16-AUD was set as Slave to External Word Clock, the Sync LED may not have lit in green when the device was turned on.
  • Solved a problem in which when Dante devices (such as Rio) were not connected to the Dante connector of a CL series device, the CL was muted and audio signals were not output.
  • Solved a problem in an environment with two or more CL series devices, in which the following malfunctions may have occurred with the I/O RACK OUTPUT PATCH pop-up window.
    - A port patched to a different CL series device could not be canceled, but a message would appear, indicating that the port could be canceled.
    - When a file was loaded, patching could not be reproduced, even though the WITH DANTE SETUP AND I/O RACK button was on when the file was loaded.
  • Solved a problem in which when devices with the Dante -MY16-AUD were rebooted, recalling patching of CL series devices and Dante-MY16-AUD may have taken several minutes.
  • Solved a problem in which it may not have been possible to store or recall Dante Input Patch settings to or from the library, even if the Dante Controller was used for patching the Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) to the CL series device.
  • Improved the performance in which when a preset file was loaded and patch settings were changed while a CL series device and Rio were connected by a Dante audio network, the changes to the patch settings may not have been completed.
  • Improved the performance in which when the word clock or audio bit rate were changed with a CL series device and Rio connected by a Dante audio network, Rio may have been muted and audio may not have been outputted.
