Spectacular sound in spectacular surroundings – Yamaha DME system helps deliver the ultimate guest experience at the Grand Hotel Palazzo.

Feb, 2009

Enjoying spectacular sea views and opulent luxury, the 123 room Grand Hotel Palazzo in the Mediterranean port of Livorno, Italy, is the ideal place to stay for both the high powered businessman and the tourist who wants to holiday in the most sumptuous surroundings.

Recently the hotel has been completely refurbished, returning it to its 19th century glory but with many 21st century refinements. Key amongst the latter has been a Yamaha DME24N-controlled CobraNet audio network, which subtly adds to the hotel’s atmosphere of decadence with a highly controllable background music system.

Designed and installed by Livorno-based Benedetti Delta Service, the company’s Massimo Corsi specified the DME24N and other Yamaha equipment thanks to the combination of its reliability, flexibility and seamless integration with CobraNet at an advantageous price point, plus of course Yamaha Commercial Audio’s excellent pre and post sales technical support.

The DME24N manages the distribution of background music throughout the hotel - including the pool on the 5th floor - via the CobraNet network and Yamaha MY16-CII interfaces. DME4io-C satellite terminals then carry the audio signals to the amplifiers and loudspeakers, allowing for a highly controllable, zoned system.

The DME24N is programmed with event lists to manage content and different day and night volume levels, controlled by an intuitive user panel. This means that the system is always at the optimum level for maximum guest comfort and can be changed, if necessary, quickly and easily by any authorised member of the hotel staff.

Meanwhile, the 200 capacity Salone Feste conference room features a 16 channel Yamaha LS9-16 mixing console, to ensure that any kind of corporate or entertainment presentation has the best quality sound.

“Optimum sound quality and flexibility were the most important factors in the refurbished hotel’s new audio system,” says Sandro Chinellato, Commercial Audio Application Engineer at Yamaha Musica Italia. “The DME24N-based system is very easy to control, but offers many options depending on what is most appropriate at any given time.

“In addition, the LS9 console not only provides all the facilities of a digital console for corporate presentations and private parties, but it is also very simple for any user to get the most from. Added to that, its small footprint and light weight mean that it can be easily transported for used in any of the hotel’s six conference rooms.”
