Yamaha Music, Motorcycles and Commercial audio all come together at Red Point Café

Sep, 2009

As well as excellence in professional audio Yamaha also, of course, enjoys a global reputation for the quality of its motorcycles and musical instruments. All three elements have come together at Red Point Café in Milan, a venue where motorcycle enthusiasts from across Italy can come together to discuss their passion in the presence of iconic Yamaha bikes, while enjoying high quality music and audio from, of course, Yamaha musical instruments and professional audio technology.

Open from 07.30 - 22.00, Tuesday to Sunday, Red Point Café is the first venue dedicated to celebrating Yamaha’s two-wheeled brand. Opened by Yamaha Tech 3 team Moto GP rider James Toseland, who also demonstrated his skills as an accomplished piano and singer, the venue’s audio system features six Installation Series IF2108W and two S55 mid/high cabinets and two IS1112W subs.

Driving these are four XP5000 and one XP7000 power amplifiers, with audio sources comprising a CDC697BR CD player, TX497BR AM/FM tuner, five of Yamaha’s unique Tenori-On instruments, an RGX-A2 electric guitar, SVC110 Silent Cello, TSX-130 desktop audio system, F11 digital piano and two wireless microphones - all of which are mixed via the brand new Installation Series IMX644 rackmount mixer.

The audio installation was undertaken by Stefano Papetti of Cavenago-based Audio Progetti, who says, “I designed the system with multiple loudspeakers to provide a good distribution of sound, meaning the volume levels could be kept down to a level where people can still talk comfortably, but be able to listen to background music.

“The IMX644 was the ideal mixer for this installation because of its technical flexibility. I was able to use the unit’s internal presets to manage all the of the loudspeakers, meaning that there was no need for a separate crossover unit.”

With a small footprint, straightforward installation, the intuitive setup of the IMX644 and subtle aesthetics of the white painted Installation Series loudspeakers. combined with Yamaha’s legendary reliability and audio quality, Red Point Café has added whole new level of quality to Italy’s biking community.

At the racetrack, the roar of engines and squeal of tyres will still be the favoured soundtrack, but when it comes to relaxing while discussing the finer points of the sport, Yamaha Commercial Audio is now the only choice!
