Sun, Sea and Sound – Yamaha systems shine at Greek resort

Apr, 2010

Overlooking the spectacular Hydra Gulf and surrounded by olive groves, the Hydra Beach Resort Village in Greece offers an unforgettable mix of sun, sea and - thanks to a comprehensive Yamaha audio installation - sound.

With many activities and local destinations available, visitors to the resort are guaranteed high quality days. But, thanks to the Yamaha installation, memorable evenings are a just as much a feature of Hydra Beach.

Supplied and installed by Audio & Light System SRL of Milan, the sound systems cover the resort’s lounge bar, pool bar, disco, amphitheatre and terrace restaurant, where DJ sets and live performances keep the many visiting families entertained into the small hours. The indoor congress room and restaurant also feature Yamaha equipment.

The lounge bar system comprises six Installation Series IF2208(W) full-range loudspeakers and two IS1118(W) subs, powered by two XP7000 and three XP3500 amplifiers, while sound reinforcement for the amphitheatre comes from four IF2115/64 and two IS1218 subs, with monitoring by pairs of CM12V, C112V and MSR100s. The system is powered by four T5n, a T3N and two XP3500 amplifiers, with inputs and mixing via a compact MG24/14 FX mixing console.

The disco system consists of four Installation Series IF2112/64(W) cabinets, two IS1218(W) subs and an MSR250 full-range cabinet for DJ monitoring. Amplification is by two T5n, two T4n and a T3n. System management for all of these areas is by SP2060 processors.

The terrace restaurant features four IF2208 full-range cabinets, powered by two XP3500 amps and managed by another SP2060, while a portable rig of two Club Series C112V loudspeakers with EMX512SC powered mixer is also available to cover any additional requirements.

Further powered mixers, in the form of another EMX512SC and an EMX212S are installed in the restaurant and congress room, respectively, while an XH200 amplifier drives the pool bar audio system.

All loudspeakers for the project were provided in a customised white finish, complementing the traditional whitewashed décor of the resort’s buildings and helping to make the systems blend seamlessly into their surroundings.

“The client requested a sound system with a good price to quality ratio, which was suited for the typical specification of a resort village, but which could deliver state-of-the-art performance,” says Sandro Chinellato of Yamaha Musica Italia.

“The Yamaha systems deliver background music, announcements and sound reinforcement for entertainment events, all to a universally high standard. The distribution patterns of the loudspeakers, combined with careful placement, also mean that sound is contained within the areas it’s needed. This ensures that any holidaymakers who might want an early night won’t be disturbed.”
