Yamaha gets to the heart to the matter at Canale 33

Jun, 2010

Part of the Idelson-Gnocchi publishing group, Canale 33 is an Italian internet television channel for the country’s health industry. At the heart of the channel’s studios is a Yamaha-based audio system, ensuring that audio is routed with surgical precision.

Located in Napoli (Naples), Canale 33 covers the whole range of health-related issues, including surgery, medication, physiotherapy, cardiology, gynaecology, teaching and medical-related environmental issues. It covers subjects in specialist terms for health practitioners and medical students, but also in more general terms, acting as a ‘one click virtual hospital’ for the Italian public.

Installed by Napoli-based Start Up Audio, the channel needed a highly flexible audio system which could be utilised for web TV transmissions, but also as a surround sound facility for the channel’s in-house, 40-seat cinema.

Start Up Audio’s Michele Signore specified a Yamaha system, comprising an 01V96VCM mixing console with MY8-DA96 interface card. Two CM10V Concert Club series loudspeakers are used for speech-monitoring during transmissions, with five powered MSR250s and a CW115V sub used for both background music during transmissions and for HD-surround sound during cinema operation. The CM10Vs and CW1115V series are powered by a pair of P2500S amplifiers.

“The system had to be flexible, to accommodate the two very different requirements of web broadcasting and for sound in the small cinema,” says Michele. “The Yamaha system allowed this to be achieved, but was also very affordable. It was the ideal solution for Channel 33’s needs and the system is working extremely well.”
