December, 2014. Shizuoka, japan – Yamaha has appointed Ken Hiraoka to serve as director of the pro audio business unit, succeeding Chihaya “Chick” Hirai who, after leading the pro audio team for seven years, will be moving on to Singapore where he will supervise Yamaha’s pro audio business in the ASEAN region.

Ken Hiraoka has extensive domestic and overseas experience, particularly in the North American market where for close to ten years his leadership was highly valued at Yamaha Corporation of America and as president of Yamaha Canada Music. His experience with the PA market during that time will be a significant advantage in his new post. After returning to Yamaha Corporation in 2012, Ken became department manager of the strategic planning office where his main assignment was to forge business partnerships that would bring new growth to the company. Ken was instrumental in Yamaha’s recent acquisition of Line 6 and Revolabs.

As the new ASEAN pro audio business director, Chick Hirai will be leading the push to boost growth and expansion in that area.

Hogan Osawa, executive officer of Yamaha Corporation, comments:
“This change in personnel reflects our commitment to pursuing continued growth and expansion in the pro audio market. Our pro audio business unit has always been active in the global market, and we expect that Ken’s international experience and track record in creating new business partnerships will provide the driving force for further expansion. Chick’s assignment to Singapore will also be an important first step for Yamaha in growing markets throughout the world, providing increased momentum in the very promising ASEAN market.”
