University of the Cumberlands Upgrades With Yamaha Installation Series Speakers

February, 2011

Yamaha Installation Series Speakers chosen for O. Wayne Rollins Center at University of Cumberland for it’s value and quality

BUENA PARK, Calif.—The University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1888. With an enrollment of 3,300 students, the school is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Church. Recently, Knight Audio of Louisville was hired by the University to complete an audio upgrade consisting of a Yamaha Installation Series Speaker System for the O. Wayne Rollins Center, the school’s gymnasium/auditorium.

Home to the Patriots basketball team, the venue seats 1,700 also serves as a sanctuary for larger campus services and events. It is also the site of the University’s commencement, convocations, and their annual leadership event, this year featuring Mike Huckabee as a presenter.

“The school needed an easy–to–use system for most of the events held in the venue, and they were very familiar with the Yamaha name,” states Dave Knight, owner of Knight Audio. A 25–speaker Yamaha IF–2112m system was chosen for its value and quality. The system is configured with six IF speakers covering the main floor, an additional eight IF speakers per side covering the main seating area, and three IF speakers that cover rear seating. “The system can be reconfigured depending on the type of function held in the space,” says Knight. Eight Yamaha P5000 amplifiers power the system.

“I had a good experience working with Knight Audio,” said Jeff Meadors, Director of Video Productions at Cumberland. “They were very professional and capable as they re–equipped our athletic arena to provide us with the much–needed Yamaha upgrade to our 20–year–old sound system.”
