Ballpark Village Summer Concert Series A 'Hit'

Ballpark Village is a premiere entertainment district in the heart of St. Louis' central business district and adjacent to Busch Stadium. It is the first ever sports anchored, multi-phased mixed-use development venue close to the stadium and hosts a variety of public and private events the entire year.

Ballpark Village recently opened a new FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE! Summer Concert Series presented by local radio station 105.7 FM The Point. On two early August evenings, New Orleans native Trombone Shorty, bandleader and front-man of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (pictured), a hard-edged funk band that employs hip-hop beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition performed. The night prior, Greek Fire opened for New York-based Taking Back Sunday who took to the stage singing hits like "You're So Last Summer" and "Liar".

Logic Systems Sound & Lighting (St. Louis), was brought in to provide a sound system for the performances. The main PA system consisted of eight NEXO GEO S12 line array speakers per side, eight RS18 subs, and fourPS8 speakers used for front fills. A Yamaha PM5D-RH digital audio console was used for monitors. The same system configuration was used in July for the band Urge.

“When selecting the PA for Ballpark Village's new outdoor space, the NEXO GEO S12 provided the best versatility and sonic performance for the space and the rigging weight limits we were working with,” states Brian Bird, Logic’s on-site sound engineer.
