Installation Case

The destruction of the old Price circus left a cultural gap in Madrid and Spain until last Christmas when a new combined circus and theater house, equipped with the latest state of the art audio facilities opened in the city. Madrid is one of the few capital cities in the world to have this type of dedicated multi-purpose cultural building boasting one of the biggest stage enclosures in Europe.
The old Teatro Circo de Price, which had been situated in "la plaza del Rey" since 1880, was demolished in 1970. From that time the city had lacked a permanent circus. But now the new venue, which retains the facade of the historic old biscuit factory, can hold 2,000 spectators and is used for a huge range of activities. An incredibly versatile technical installation allows events that include trampoline acrobatics and jugglers, concerts and dinner shows to be staged easily. The required stage changes and other complex configurations can easily be stored on a USB key.

To achieve his remarkable performance and versatility Chemtrol Division Teatro, one of the most prestigious engineering companies in Spain, was looking for the best and highest quality solution for its audio distribution project in the Teatro Circo Price. They settled on an EtherSound solution, designed using the Yamaha NAI48-ES network interface and six AD8HR preamp/AD converters. The entire system is controlled by a Yamaha M7CL-48 digital mixing console, enabling Chemtrol to fulfill all the demands laid down by the theater’s technical director, especially the signal/noise ratio between the AD8HR converters and EtherSound digital audio distribution on the network.
The M7CL-48 mixing console is used for a wide range of functions, including storage of all configuration parameters. Combined with the versatility of digital audio distribution in EtherSound format, it proved an easy task to convert the already installed equipment.
It is planned that the installation will also support a circus documentation center and school in the future.
